Samudaik Kalyan Evam Vikas Sansthan, Village and Post – Ahirauli Thana, Via Bodarwar, District – Kushinagar (U.P.), is located in district Kushinagar and Gorakhpur in the north east part of Uttar Pradesh. Kushinagar district is poor and vulnerable to different disasters like floods and droughts. Fire is also very common happening in the area and many communities suffer lots of loss due to this very frequently.
About District Profile (Gorakhpur)
The coverage area of the organization is flood prone and lacks basic infrastructure. The youth group of the region migrates from their villages due to lack of livelihood resources. The organization has been implementing various activities for capacity building & skill development of the targeted communities. These communities are facing grim situation in the area of unemployment & extreme poverty due to which health and primary education of the children is getting affected. Most of the people are unskilled & lack resources to generate their livelihood. Awareness & participation & representation level of the target communities with respect to the access of different government schemes concerning employment generation and poverty eradication is very low.
District Kushinagar:
The situation of the selected districts Kushinagar – a part of eastern Uttar Pradesh; doesn’t differ and even have more problems in form of disasters due to flood which every year supports in making the situation more critical in terms of economic situation as well as in relation with the health issues. The area faces a lot of epidemics like Japanese Encephalitis, water borne diseases causing loss to the life and making the situation more vulnerable especially to the poor community. .Both of these districts comes under economically backward category and comprises of high proportion of backward and socio – economically deprived families
Its boundaries adjoin the Nepal which is a neighboring country. District Kushinagar exists at the border of Bihar state also.
District Kushinagar came into existence on 13th May, 1994. After independence, Kushinagar remained the part of district Deoria. Kushinagar has its own cultural and historical importance. The district has a total geographical area of 2873.5 sq. km with a population density of 778 persons /sq. km. Out of the total population of the district – 22,35,505 persons of which 95.13% exists in rural areas. The district has a sex ratio of 940 (per thousand of male population) and comprises of 18.1% of SC/ST population to the total population of the district. The literacy rate of the district in total is 46.84% with the same for the female – 29.64%.
District Maharajganj:
District Maharajganj came into existence on 2nd October, 1989. This newly created District is situated at INDO NEPAL Border. Its boundaries touches the Nepal in north, Gorakhpur district in south, Kushinagar district in east and Siddharth Nagar & Sant Kabir Nagar districts in west. Its shape is almost rectangular. Total area of district is 2952 sq. Km. out of which 17.2% area is under forest. The district has a total population of 2,173,880 of which 94.9% resides in rural areas. The district has a sex ratio of 934 (per1000 male populations) and comprises of in total 19.6% SC/ST population to the total population of the district. The literacy rate of the district stands at 46.61% with the same for female – 27.93%. This indicates a wide gap in comparison of urban to rural literacy rate in total as well as of the female literacy rate which is more than double (58.77%) in comparison with the rural one (26.23%). Religion wise data of the district indicates that out of the total population in the district the Muslim population stands at 16.46% while ranking 2nd position in the district.
Administratively the district has 777 Gram Panchayats comprising of 1,203 developed villages, 06 town areas and 02 nagar palika. All these, fall under 04 Tehsils and 12 development blocks of the district. Regarding public health services, apart from district hospital at Maharajganj, it has 06 Public Health Canters and 43 Primary Health Centres’ along with 48 Family & Mother-Child Welfare Centres and 245 Family & Mother-Child Welfare sub-Centres (District Statistical Report: 2007 – 08).
